TÜV SÜD Issues ETSI EN 303 645 AoC to Hisense's Smart Air Conditioners

TÜV SÜD recently issued the ETSI EN 303 645 AoC on cybersecurity standard for consumer IoT products to the AST-09UW4RYRCF04 and AST-09UW4RXETM00B smart air conditioners manufactured by Hisense (Guangdong) Air Conditioning Co., Ltd. (Hisense, a leading home appliances manufacturer established in China in 1969). The APP (ConnectLife v1.1.8 (Android and iOS)) and cloud servers for the smart products also received penetration test reports from TÜV SÜD. This demonstrates Hisense’s commitment to securing product cybersecurity, enhancing personal data protection, and building digital trust with consumers.

With the popularity of smart home devices, consumers are increasingly concerned about cybersecurity and privacy data protection. The standard ETSI EN 303 645 released by the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI) is about consumer IoT cyber and data security. It is designed to address the most important and wide-ranging security issues, helping ensure that IoT products meet security requirements and have basic data security functions. The technical standard covers the security of equipment, communications, and personal data protection.

In accordance with the standard ETSI EN 303 645 V2.1.1., TÜV SÜD conducted comprehensive assessments on the AST-09UW4RYRCF04 and AST-09UW4RXETM00B smart air conditioners manufactured by Hisense, and finally confirmed both passed all the testing and evaluation. Therefore,  TÜV SÜD granted Hisense the ETSI EN 303 645 AoC. It also conducted penetration testing on the APP (ConnectLife v1.1.8 (Android and iOS)) and cloud servers for the air conditioners based on the industry's authoritative OWASP 10 vulnerabilities,  which helps Hisense identify technical weaknesses and security vulnerabilities in the APP, so that its security performance can be improved.

It is worth mentioning that the ETSI EN 303 645 AoC will also help Hisense enter the sales platform of Beko, a global home appliance giant. The AoC proves Hisense meets Beko’s commitment to creating a better IoT ecosystem for users, strengthening cybersecurity and privacy protection of products, so that Beko can enhance consumers' confidence in the information security of IoT products.

Based on its thorough understanding of data security regulations and network security, TÜV SÜD has been providing information security and data protection-related services to customers around the world. They cover IoT security testing, ETSI EN 303 645 testing, NISTIR 8259 testing, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, application evaluation, source code review, GDPR consulting and compliance assessment, and information security management system certification, which help companies reduce network security and data privacy risk.
