TÜV SÜD released the country's first clean hydrogen certificate to assist the Green Winter Olympics 2022

Shanghai/China, Recently, Sinopec Beijing Yaoshan Company Hydrogen Production Project successfully passed the audit according to T/CAB 0078-2020 " Standard and evaluation of low-carbon hydrogen, clean hydrogen and renewable hydrogen" and obtained the first clean hydrogen certificate issued by TÜV SÜD. It marks the first time that China's hydrogen production project has realized the practice of evaluation and grading based on the carbon emission per unit weight of hydrogen, further promoting the green development of the whole hydrogen energy industry chain and helping China's low-carbon energy transformation. 

As one of the energy supply units of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, Sinopec Beijing Yaoshan Company Hydrogen Production Project will provide hydrogen for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles during the Winter Olympic Games, and TÜV SÜD has made positive contributions to the clean energy supply of the Winter Olympics and helped the Green Winter Olympics.

TÜV SÜD released the country's first clean hydrogen certificate to Sinopec Beijing Yaoshan Company Hydrogen Production Project

The project took hydrogen products as the evaluation object, and the TÜV SÜD low-carbon-hydrogen energy team conducted on-site verification of the input-output data of the actual raw materials, energy, products and emissions of the specific production cycle of the Hydrogen Production Project and calculated the carbon emissions per unit weight of the hydrogen production project (kgCO2/kgH2) according to the Life Cycle Method (LCA). 

According to the standard, the threshold for carbon emissions per unit weight of low-carbon hydrogen is 14.51 kgCO2/kgH2, the threshold for clean hydrogen and renewable hydrogen per unit weight carbon emissions is 4.9 kgCO2/kgH2, and renewable hydrogen also requires the input energy to be renewable energy. In accordance with the requirements of the "Standard", the carbon emission level of hydrogen per unit produced by Sinopec Beijing Yaoshan Company is in the leading position in the industry, and it has successfully obtained the clean hydrogen certification, becoming the first enterprise in China to obtain the certification. 

About Sinopec Beijing Yaoshan Company Hydrogen Energy Project 

In order to help the green Winter Olympics, Sinopec officially put into operation four hydrogen refueling stations planned and built in the two major competition areas of Zhangjiakou Chongli and Beijing Yanqing in the Beijing Winter Olympics, and the hydrogen supply was all undertaken by Sinopec Beijing Yaoshan Company. In 2021, Sinopec Beijing Yaoshan Company supplied nearly 300 tons of hydrogen in Beijing and North China, and its hydrogen sales volume ranked first in Sinopec's refining and chemical sector. In addition, Sinopec Beijing Yaoshan Company has created a precedent for the demonstration and application of hydrogen fuel trucks in Beijing and Sinopec, becoming the largest one-time application demonstration of hydrogen vehicles in China.
