TÜV SÜD Releases Scenario Analysis of Adaptive Safety & Security System (Part one)

TÜV SÜD experts have introduced and analyzed the application of the Adaptive Safety & Security System (AS3) in typical industrial scenarios featuring autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). AS3 is under IP patent protection of TÜV SÜD Hong Kong Ltd. TÜV SÜD will continue to explore more areas where AS3 can be applied.

Industry 4.0 manufacturing environments are complex systems designed to frequently change and adapt to demand. Traditional (static) risk assessment methods are incompatible with the dynamic risk landscape of such systems.   

AS3 (Adaptive Safety & Security Systems) is a new solution for dynamic risk assessment by means of “digital safety and security profiles” capable of automatic risk evaluations. It enables monitoring of smart manufacturing systems “@runtime”, automatic verifications of safety/security measures prior to system reconfigurations, as well as virtual simulations.

AS3 is part of an industrial Digital Twin containing the digital representation of a system’s safety and security in its actual application context. It can be hosted on existing enterprise platforms and tools and used across the entire system lifecycle (design, commissioning, operations, maintenance).
