TÜV SÜD Speaks at IoT World China, Focusing on New Challenges Posed to Global Cyber Security for Consumer IoT
On September 28, TÜV SÜD attended the IoT World China 2021 at invitation. Mr. Stone Zhong, Distinguished Engineer of EnE Dept., TÜV SÜD Greater China, delivered a keynote speech on “Challenges Posed to Global Cyber Security for Consumer IoT”. He elaborated on cyber security threats for IoT products and relevant laws, regulations, and standards implemented in various countries, aiming to help companies cope with new challenges posed to cyber security for consumer IoT and facilitate their efforts to enter target markets.

A good variety and great volume of IoT devices are being connected to the internet, which makes them vulnerable to all kinds of network threats. Different countries and regions have enacted regulations to protect the network security of IoT devices. Meanwhile, brands are more aware of product cyber security and user privacy protection, and consumers are paying more attention to the security of IoT devices and asking their suppliers to comply with relevant regulations and standards. Improving IoT devices’ security and complying with regulatory requirements are among the priorities of manufacturers.
Mr. Stone Zhong introduced the development of and changes in cyber security challenges for IoT products and gave a detailed analysis of IoT regulations and standards of different countries and regions. He also mentioned that during the booming period of IoT technology, TÜV SÜD, as an important participant in data security, would provide one-stop services for enterprises throughout the life cycle of their products, including training, technical support, compliance assessment, best practice evaluation, etc., so as to help them meet requirements on network security and data protection.
