Cross-border e-commerce grew rapidly in recent years. It has become a new momentum of China’s foreign trade. However, sellers face various problems and challenges concerning destination markets’ laws, regulations and business customs, different requirements from platforms like Amazon on diverse product categories and target markets. Deepening the awareness of compliance management and ensuring product compliance are among the top priorities for companies.
Foshan, a major manufacturing and export city, enjoys good prospects for electronic manufacturing and cross-border e-commerce. At a meeting on October 28, Kelvin delivered a speech on "The Challenges of Product Compliance to Cross-Border E-commerce and Suppliers". He highlighted the importance of compliance from both theoretical and practical perspectives to participants, particularly some Chinese cross-border sellers who lack knowledge on the regulations of target countries. With the speech, Kelvin aimed to inform companies of quality and security measurements for products sold overseas and help them further reduce the risk of penalties or recalls in different markets.
According to Kelvin, product compliance is affected by a number of factors, including laws, policies, regulations and local regulations. To ensure a smooth entry into the target market, products need to meet EMC, chemical, safety, energy efficiency requirements and other directives and standards.
