Preventing delays in production with timely inspection
Preventing delays in production with timely inspection
Countries and major cities around the world have shut down all but essential services in an effort to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. But are testing, inspection and certification services “essential”?
The answer is a resounding “yes” for Thornhill Medical, an innovator of advance medical technologies based in Toronto, Canada. The company, perhaps most widely known for its line of ventilator systems, has recently signed an agreement with the Canadian government to produce and deliver 500 mobile compact ventilator systems to hospitals throughout Canada by early April.
In order to scale up its production capabilities to fulfil its commitment to Canada’s hospitals, the company first needed to complete an inspection of its manufacturing facility in Toronto. Without a timely inspection, production of the promised ventilator systems would need to be delayed, potentially for weeks, meaning that many patients would not have access to these life-saving systems.
Fortunately for Thornhill Medical, TÜV SÜD Canada’s technical team worked quickly gain access to the Thornton Medical production facility and conduct the required factory inspection.
TÜV SÜD Canada supported Thornhill Medical’s efforts in meeting its commitments to bring life-saving technology to thousands of patients in Canada and beyond.
